The decade that was…

As the year draws to a close, as does another decade in the life of Lexi.
It has been a massive ten years.

I saw in the “Millennium” decade with orange juice, and I will bid it farewell with a glass of champagne.

Throughout the past ten years I have grown up in so many ways.
I went through puberty, through “fads”, hit milestones and have had a fair share of ups and downs.

Made new friends, lost some old ones.
Changed my hair WAY to many times to count
Became addicted to caffeine and nicotine
Learnt to drive
Started High School, and survived through to graduation.
Many, many moves.
Even more career paths.
Fell in love, had my heart broken – more than once.
Was almost married, and promised marriage, then watched it all fall apart – Twice
Experienced first hand the miracle of life with three perfect, gorgeous babies
Watched those babies grow into perfect, gorgeous children
Developed crushes on unattainable movie stars
Made ten New Years resolutions – broke them all.
Have been happy.
Have been down.
Have been depressed.
And have seen the light.
I’ve been tattooed – and pierced.
I’ve experimented.

In ten years I have become who I am today
And whilst I am far from perfect, I am finally learning to stand on my own two feet.

It might take me another decade – but I will get there.

So whilst we say arrivederci to the Noughties – what has the last decade meant to you?

Always a…

Never has a truer post-secret been published.

You tell me you are single now.

So, please explain why her profile picture is the two of you on your wedding day?
Seems a strange photo for her to have of her ex-fiance…

Failure isn’t new to me.
In fact, it’s what I will amount to in life – or so I have been told.

I never complete anything.
Everything just gets too hard and I run away.

I have done it again.
Wanted to work in PR.
Enrolled in the course.
And now, I either have until 5pm to complete my “exam” [Aka 4 essays]
Not do it.
And fail again.

And I have chosen the fail.
I don’t want to do it anymore.
I can’t.
I’m not up to it – I don’t have the time – or the desire.

Thats not saying I have given up on study.
2011 is the start of something new.
I will be completing my certificate in Events Management.
It’s more managable than a Bachelor
And I am excited.

And when I do complete it, expect me to shove it back your face.

To be nine again…

As a kid I always thought about how amazing it was going to be to be an adult.
You had freedom,
You could do what you liked,
Spent what you liked,
Stay up all night and sleep all day.
You got to eat what you wanted and spend as much time with your friends as you wanted too and you were never scared of anything.

But now,
As an adult, I would LOVE to go back to being a kid for just a day.
Just one day to soak it all in and appreciate how easy life was.

As a kid you have freedom, you aren’t burdened with mortgage repayments, with studying, with work.

You could spend all your money on Spice Girls CD’s and lipgloss and even though you didn’t have much, what you did have was all yours – you didn’t have to worry about using it to pay for petrol, for utilities.

As a kid you literally could sleep all day – you might not have been allowed to, but there was the odd occasion you could vegetate all day on the couch, watching TV, playing gameboy and you didn’t have to still get up to mow the lawn or watch your kids.

Mum may not of let you eat pop-tarts for breakfast, but all those other things you ate, those special treats, the ice-cream you were allowed because you ate your broccoli – as an adult you can’t eat those things because of your sensitive teeth, your lactose intolerance or your waistline.

Time with your friends was limited. You could stay and play until it got dark, or until Dad came and picked you up after work – but what time you had, you had together. There was no scheduling months in advance, or having a quick drink between meetings, time was not of the essence and you had the energy to play all day.

As a kid those nightmares and christmas beetles may have scared the bejesus outta you – but some of those fears never go away, as a 23 year old I am still scared stiff of Christmas beetles, but those fears are so minor. As an adult you fear scarier things, things like failure, commitment and the feeling of having control over nothing.

So yes,
For just one day – I wish I was a kid again.
Skinned knees are easier to fix than a broken heart.
And cleaning spilled milk is easier to wipe than a bad credit rating.

Just another manic Friday?

Thursday evenings are usually spent getting manicures, shopping, or sitting at home chilling after a hectic day.

Occassionally it means a dinner/coffee date with a friend.
Last night, dinner turned into many, many coffees to keep up with the late night out.

Late night out, turned into an early morning of blog surfing because of the caffiene high.
4:30 this morning I was still watching the clock.

This was fabulous when my alarm went off at 5am.
Snooze was pressed countless times until it was 6am and I was forced out of bed to manage to make the commute and get to work on time.

My hair is naturally curly.
But, just like the mystery of my natural hair colour – most of you wouldn’t know it.
GHD and straightening balm are my best friends.

Well, this morning – my hair DID NOT want to co-operate.
No amount of blowdrying, dry shampoo, straightening or swearing worked.
No time to wash and re-set, I am sitting here with ridiculously dry, hideous hair.
Thank goodness for the hair ties I keep in my car.

Posted a massive long blog here about all the shit that has gone down in the past 2 months.

Then I deleted it.

Let’s concentrate on the positives.

Baby Ruby will arrive in less than 10 days.

Baby Hewitt

Bec and Leyton have done it again.

They have had their THIRD baby.
It’s a girl, she arrived [apparently] six weeks early – but both mum and bub are healthy.

Now, We all know the Hewitt’s love the spotlight, the media, and will attend the opening of an envelope
[With mother and daughter in matching frocks – of course]

But with the arrival of Mini Hewitt #3 comes a whole new [ridiculous] spin on money making and fame whoring.
The Hewitt’s are charging their fans two dollars for the name.

That’s right folks,
Just a simple $2 text and they will send you the name of their baby.
Along with the thousand other idiots people who signed on for this.

I don’t have a problem with them using their kid name to raise the money for charity.
All decent celebs do once and a while,
But it’s not going to charity.
Nope, it’s going straight into their pocket.

Two words for you Leyton, “Come on!”

As if NW or New Idea haven’t already sent that text?
Bet it’s in next weeks issue.

** Editor’s Spoiler **
Baby’s name is Ava Sydney Hewitt.
